From Bermuda's coastline to our outdoor learning spaces, students experience learning beyond the classroom through observation, exploration and authentic experiences. Research shows that meaningful contact with nature supports attention, reduces stress, improves wellbeing and helps children develop stronger connections between ideas and the world around them.

Whether investigating ecosystems, writing outdoors or exploring local environments, students build knowledge that is both academically rigorous and deeply memorable.
The best learning doesn't always happen between four walls and we are proud to offer dedicated Beach and Forest Schooling year round.

Our approach combines high academic expectations with personalised learning, adapting teaching to students' strengths, prior knowledge and next steps. Guided by continuous assessment and evidence-informed practice, our teachers know when to support, when to stretch and when to encourage greater independence.

We don't believe in fixed ability. We believe every learner can grow through effective teaching, purposeful challenge and meaningful feedback. Personalised learning doesn't lower expectations. It creates the conditions for every child to achieve them.

Purposeful Play
Play is one of the most powerful ways children learn.

Research consistently shows that play-based learning strengthens language, creativity, problem-solving, self-regulation and social development, particularly in the early years. At Chatmore, play is never "free time" or simply entertainment. It is carefully designed to spark curiosity, deepen understanding and encourage children to explore, question and discover.
As students grow, the spirit of purposeful play evolves into enquiry, innovation and real-world problem solving, creating learners who are engaged because learning has meaning.
Children don't stop learning when they're playing. Often, that's when the deepest learning begins.
How We Do It
Our approach is not accidental. It is steeped in evidence and deep discussion about what children need to be grounded, inquisitive and prepared for their future. Through team discussions, conversations with parents, feedback from students and guidance from our international Board of Governors, Chatmore ensures its approach is meeting the needs of our young people.
Policy
Chatmore is a relationship driven school. Our policies are in place to provide frameworks for solving problems, maintaining standards and progressing as a school. A small school requires that each situation is addressed fairly yet uniquely. Whether it be our Learning & Teaching Policy or our Attendance Policy, we aim to use policy to guide our decision making toward the best outcome for each teacher, student and family.
Inclusion
Chatmore is an inclusive yet mainstream school. Though the majority of our learners will be ready for post-secondary education after graduation, we recognise that learners come with different backgrounds and needs like dyslexia or ADHD. Some learners are academically strong while others demonstrate their skills in other ways. Regardless, each learner is held to high standards as we believe in developing the best in every child.
