OUR STORY

Built with purpose.
Growing with possibility.

Chatmore began with a belief that still guides us today: education should respond to children, not simply ask children to fit into a system. What started as a small preschool in Bermuda has grown into an internationally accredited school for students from Primary through Secondary. The school has changed over the years, but the heart of it has remained remarkably consistent.

Where It Started

In 2004, educator Angela Fubler and speech pathologist Mary Giordano established Chatterbox Preschool & Child Study Centre in Southampton, Bermuda. Its early approach brought children together in an environment centred on language, relationships and development, informed by research rather than convention.

As families responded to the approach, the vision grew. Chattertots Discovery Zone followed, then Chatmore Preparatory School in 2011. In 2017, the programmes came together at Rockmore Estate as Chatmore British International School, creating one learning community spanning the school years.

A History of Firsts

Chatterbox Preschool and Chattertots Discovery Zone achieved accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The achievement was NAEYC's first international accreditation, with them becoming the first programme outside North America to receive the recognition.

In 2011, Angela Fubler introduced the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) to Bermuda, later followed by the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC) and International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC). Chatmore became the first school in Bermuda to achieve International Curriculum Association accreditation. Today, IPC and IMYC remain central to the Chatmore learning experience and is enjoyed by many other schools.

In January 2014, the Council of British International Schools (COBIS) announced Chatmore Preparatory School as its first member school in Bermuda. Today, COBIS represents more than 400 schools and organisations across more than 80 countries.

Bermuda represented internationally

THE WOMAN WHO STARTED IT

Angela Fubler, Founder

Angela Fubler's career in education spans Early Years through Higher Education, with a background that includes linguistics, child studies and educational psychology.

But perhaps her greatest contribution to Chatmore has been an instinct to look beyond Bermuda for ideas while remaining deeply committed to what Bermuda's children and families need.

That thinking brought internationally recognised curricula to the island, pursued international standards for Early Years education, connected a small Bermudian school with global education networks and helped Chatmore grow from a preschool into the school it is today.

Her influence now extends beyond Chatmore. Angela serves on the COBIS Board, was recognised among Think Women's 80 Outstanding Global Women 2025, and continues to develop educational and community initiatives through the Chatmore Foundation.

Her challenge to Chatmore remains simple: follow the evidence, keep learning and never be afraid to do something differently.
