Middle Years (M1-M3) - ages 11-13
Seniors (S1-S4) - ages 14-18+
Graduation & Beyond
Students can graduate with Honours, Standard High School Diploma or complete their studies with a Leaving Certificate. Students must complete the required amount of credits spanning academic core course work, electives, school projects and community service.
We are proud of our first graduates, Samuel Bean and Maximilian Whalley: Class of 2021. Sam now attends The Citadel, a prestigious military college, while Max continues his studies at Bermuda College while working.
Learning in Secondary
At this point in their development, their adolescent brain requires a balanced mix of structure and self-led education. This is why the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC) is well suited for our Middle Years students. MY Students also complete core studies in Maths, English, Science, Bermuda Cultural Studies, Leadership, PE and music. Additional subjects such as languages or art are taken as electives.
Students at the Senior level are able to take IGCSEs in Math, English Language, English Literature, Biology, Economics, History, Geography and Global Citizenship. Chatmore offers IGCSE coursework in languages and additional sciences based on the student’s interests and needs. Chatmore allows 3 years for students to complete their IGCSE coursework. Students who complete them in 2 years are able to progress to higher level qualifications such as A Levels or Dual Enrolment with The Bermuda College. Students requiring more time to complete their IGCSEs will be given this time but will have their learning paired with work experience opportunities.
A Typical Day in Secondary
Students begin their day at 8:45am and finish at 3:15pm, with a 20 minute recess and 50 minute lunch break. Extra curricular activities mostly take place on a Wednesday with others intertwined with the daily schedule. Friday afternoons are reserved for assemblies and Family Time. As they mature, students are given time to conduct learning independently to achieve their personal academic goals.
Students are required to have a laptop (not a notebook) and over-the-ear headphones.
